Fall’s passion for purple

We usually associate Fall with colors like brown, red, green, and deep yellow. This year we’re seeing shades of purple appear in Fall collections across the board. A color that was once associated with royalty, wealth, and power is now to be worn by woman everywhere. It’s commonly thought that people who embrace the color purple are creative, eccentric, independent, and mysterious. This intriguing color brings sophistication to our usual measure of fall colors. It works beautifully with grays, blacks, and denim. It’s a quick way to update your wardrobe for the season, without having to spend a fortune. Try to work at least one piece of purple into your story this season, even if it’s only a scarf. Be a bit mysterious, and let out your inner royal. Let the majestic color work magic on you!

The flowers may not be blooming yet, but spring has certainly sprung in the fashion world. The department store windows have mannequins dressed in a bouquet of colors, ranging from bright yellow Daffodils, to powerful pink Tulips, and purple grape Hyacinth. The site of it certainly has us yearning for brighter days. The colors are lively, and reflect beautifully on most skin tones. Easter is only weeks away and it’s a chance for us to let the light into our wardrobe. For those who celebrate, it can be a festive time filled lots of fun and candy. Awaken your spirit with a beautifully colored dress. Go for a less constructed silhouette, a flowy dress that is as breezy as a spring day. That way, you can look beautiful and feel relaxed while enjoying the celebration. For those who don’t celebrate, you can still nosh on some of the decadent treats that seem to be everywhere in stores. Happy Easter!

One look at Barbara Bui’s shoe designs and I hear Shania Twain in my head singing ” I feel like a woman”. They are powerful, sexy, and fabulously fierce. She gives us a neutral shoe with an edge, by popping it with unexpected color. Even the black suede heel is punched up with a touch of yellow croc. This added detailing is precisely what has us loving this high end Parisian label. You can wear these pumps with anything from denim to a flowy feminine dress - they can be funky or glamorous. There are plenty of ways to play with this look, so have fun with it.

The ladies in the tents last night loved the color blue. While waiting for the fashion shows to start we noticed a real trend among the attendees at Bryant Park: brilliant blue. There was nothing basic about this blue, it popped on every girl who wore it. Most of the girls embraced a blue satin top with either black slacks or with a skirt and opaque tights. Pairing a pop of blue with jet black gave the look urban sophistication. This is a good way to add color to your wardrobe, give it a try.

    bold & beautiful

The BOLD colors of spring are a welcome change from the usual palette of springs past. It’s all about bright blues, eye popping pinks, lush grass greens, and lemony yellows. All you need to determine is how bold you want to be. You can go all over bold, or add a simple splash of color. For a subtle look, pair a brightly colored top with a pair of white jeans. For the daring, go for a dress in a lively hue. Pull it all together with a fun clutch.
