TIDE Loads of Hope

December 20th, 2008 · posted by Jean Vouté Pratt in $ clothing tops

I was watching TV yesterday and saw an ad for Tide Loads of Hope, and wanted to share it with you. I think it’s important to help out in any way that we can, and I think it’s great that Tide used their specialty to help victims of natural disasters. It reinforces a sense of community, and civic duty. You can help out too, buy a Tide vintage Tee - the proceeds go to the cause.

“In the wake of disasters, small comforts make a big difference. When Hurricane Katrina first hit New Orleans, thousands of families were left without basic comforts like clean clothes. In response, the Tide Loads of Hope mobile laundry program traveled to the city, helping provide clean clothes and renew a sense of hope. It’s the spirit of the people of New Orleans who continue to inspire us.
Tide Loads of Hope helps in the crucial days, weeks and years after a natural disaster by providing clean clothes and a sense of comfort to families in need. Partnering with America’s Second Harvest, we travel to key neighborhoods with the Tide CleanStart truck, our free mobile laundry facility.” Thanks Tide!

stand up to cancer

I’m in! Sixteen years ago my father died of cancer. He was only 53 years old. I sat in the hospital praying for a miracle, praying that the Chemo would work. Not for a minute did I think he wouldn’t see me graduate from college, or walk me down the aisle, or meet my children, or see me start my own company. He didn’t. I’m in! It’s all I can say to Stand up to cancer.

“Cancer takes one person every minute. One life in a moment. They are our brothers, our sisters, our fathers and mothers, our husbands and wives, our best friends, our children, ourselves. Every day in America 1500 people die and yet the means to save them are literally within our reach. To wait any longer for someone else to save our lives and the lives of those we love is unforgivable.”

Are you in?

Bobbi Brown, Trish McEvoy, and Laura Mercier have put their stamp on one of the best flip-flops on the market today, Havaianas. These ladies are using the power behind their name and their creativity to sell flip-flops for fresh water. Part of the proceeds will go to the charity WATER. This charity brings fresh drinking water to places around the world where its needed. We all take for granted our access to clean drinking water. So, this summer buy a pair of flops that will help another.

Oh yeah, and you get a nice pair of flip-flops to wear all summer. Bobbi Brown styled her flip-flop in a clean ocean blue and crisp white. While Trish McEvoy kissed her flops. And Laura Mercier made her flip-flops shell-tastic. Anyone who has ever owned a pair of Havaianas knows that they are all about comfort and styled fabulously. You’ll definitely need a pair to throw in your beach bag this summer. So, grab a pair that actually gives back. Thanks!

  • Lauren Bush helps us feed 1 child

Last year, Lauren Bush partnered with the World Food Program’s school feeding scheme in order to raise awareness about child hunger and hopefully raise funding as well. Here’s the brilliant part, by purchasing one of these bags you will be providing one child in need with an entire year of school lunches. That alone makes us want to purchase a bag right now. So, not only do you get to help a child in need, but you get to have a cool bag that speaks to the world. The FEED 1 bag is made from 100% sustainable material and is reversible; one side is burlap, and the other is a white cotton twill. The bag reads ‘FEED THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD’ , basically shouting out for others to get involved. The FEED 1 bag is sold exclusively at Harrods, who is not making any profit on the bag. Sometime this year they are going to launch the FEED 2 bags, and we will keep you posted on that. Some people may think fashion is frivolous, but this fashion bag can actually FEED 1 and give them the hope of both an education and a brighter future. We are officially inspired. Here’s to you Lauren Bush.
