Before buying, think about who you’re buying for. Make sure you know the answers to question like – How does she enjoy spending her Saturday? Would she rather be buried in Jimmy Choo’s, Cole Haan Flats, or sneakers? Is she reasonable or over the top? What’s her favorite color? Pattern (like leopard)? Does she have fun with fashion? Or are clothes just something you put on everyday?

Knowing the answers to some of the questions can help you decide where to start – Nike or Nordstrom.

Having said all that, there are a few gifts that pretty much any girl would like to get. I don’t know about you, but I love to get PJ’s. The J. Crew vintage pajama set is my favorite! They are like men’s pajamas, but not as boxy – classic!

Another gift no woman would turn down is a personalized L.L. Bean tote. It’s great for going to the beach, carrying stuff to work, or as a carry-on for the plane. You can always use another tote. I gave one to each of my son’s teachers last year – they LOVED it!

A puffer vest is fun, and is an easy fit. Here’s where you can play with color.
