headgear – thumbs up or down?

celeb influence

We’ve all seen celebrities from Nicole Richie to Lady Gaga wearing “headgear”. Truthfully, they’re the ones who brought headpieces to the trend front a couple of years ago. If we didn’t see a celebrity wearing it, would it have registered as fashionable?

questions…

Does it only work because they are celebs?
Would it look silly on the average person walking down the street?
How much is too much?

Okay… maybe Gaga wasn’t the best example! She’s a bit out of control. You may not want to wear a diamond encrusted lobster on your head, but would you wear a simple flower? Or a feathered headband?

I have been very much into headbands in the past year, and they usually have some sort of applique – my two faves feature small studs and a bejeweled band, respectively.

I find the whole “tiara” look a bit much, but I do like headbands with feather fascinators or something sparkly for night. It's fun and playful – but the rest of the outfit should be kept fairly simple, with minimal jewelry.

And I really hate pretty much all of Lady Gaga's looks.
