Recently, I’ve come to love wearing dresses during the day. I find them feminine, comfortable, and low maintenance.

It’s funny, because when I was little I HATED dresses! I was a real tomboy until I was about 11 or 12.

“Day dress” reminds me of something my Grandmother used to wear, except she called it a “house dress”. Her house dress was simple, zipped up the front, was comfortable, and casual. She wore it to do housework, cook, take care of kids, etc.

So, what ‘s the difference between her house dress and my day dress?

Her house dress was NEVER seen outside the house. I think she thought it was inappropriate, and would be considered very underdressed. I guess it’s how I feel when I have an unexpected visitor come to my door and I’m in old sweatpants.

My day dress could very well be the house dress of 2010. It’s comfortable, buttons up the front, is fabric friendly, and I can move easily throughout the day getting everything done.

Well…

I do have to take off my wedges to do chores around the house. Anthropologie has some really cute “day dresses” that are flirty, whimsical, and comfortable. See you tomorrow xoxo

    I used to hate dresses, but now I feel like it's all I buy! They're so easy to me, and now that I'm older I much prefer them in the summer to short-shorts, which I have trouble pulling off these days.

    There are so many cute day dresses out there… I can't wait to get home on R&R to wear the clothes that I've been buying online/shipping to my house. My husband says, “Why are you buying these clothes, you're deployed!” But I figure I deserve it. :)

    Aubrey – I can't even think about short shorts anymore. Anthropologie has some surprisingly cute dresses this year. I used to think Anthropologie was a little “crunchy” for me, but I'm liking it this year.
