is a copy good enough for you?

Get The Look

what a steal!

Why pay $690 for a pair of shoes when you can buy a close copy for $168?

Possible Answers

  • I love designer things
  • Nothing is as good as the original
  • It’s made better
  • It will last longer

The counter-argument

  • There is barely a difference to the naked eye
  • The shoe is a passing trend
  • I can’t possibly justify a $700 shoe
  • If I can get the look for less, I will!

Are you a steal or splurge?

It's weird, but with shoes I'll go for similar styles but in purses I'll stick to a designer. Perhaps it's because I feel the handbag will last longer, and I tend to go for bags in timeless styles, definite investment pieces.

But with shoes, I'll hunt around and settle. Probably goes back to when I was in high school/college and bought all my shoes at Target and Payless to save cash and would toss them at the end of a season because they'd be worn out; I just haven't gotten into designer shoes… yet!

I am really hard on shoes, so I am less likely to splurge on them. My Gucci stilettoes haven't worn out any less than my Target heels!

I am likely to splurge when there is tangible quality difference between the original and the knockoff. Pleather v leather? No contest!

[...] when I saw they were only $59. WHAT? I’ll take ‘em. They look so close to the Chloe wedges, which are hundreds more. They’re made by MRKT, and are seriously [...]

This is a valid point, but only a person with a LOT of disposable income would call a $168 shoe a “steal.”

    Well, compared to a $700 shoe – $168 is a steal.
