“Kell on Earth” – style

There is something about her style that makes me think of Stevie Nicks. She’s a gothic gypsy, a bit of a witch. While many think she’s a complete nightmare – “Kell on earth”- I like her. I could use some of her fierce business attitude, I’m too nice most of the time. She gets it done. Like many women these days, myself included, she’s trying to balance work and motherhood. Has anyone really mastered this? It’s a constant struggle, and a constant tug.

Our role has changed drastically over the years. We’re expected to be the nurturing mother, as well as the bread winning father. AND, nobody is going to cut you any slack. So, you figure out a way to make it work. For Kelly Cutrone, it’s running a strict, no bullshit, business. She makes no apologies for how she runs her business, and she’s been very successful at it. As usual, when there is a tough, successful business woman, people call her a bitch. C’est la vie!

Is this who you would have pictured as one of the top fashion PR women? Not a chance!
She’s usually in a t-shirt, black leggings or black jeans, a shawl, and ZERO hair and make-up. She’s like the anti-fashionista, yet she’s running some of the best fashion shows. Odd? Yes! While some have been trashing her look, it’s very downtown New York.

I love that her look is so utilitarian. She gets that she's not the show and her clothes are comfortable and neutral, but still have a rocker edge.

I like her, too. She's actually running a business, and she's responsible for its success and failure. She has to be tough. Also, I think she is the rare reality boss who would just flat out fire someone – and that I respect. Some people just really need to be fired.

Totally agree. I'm drawn to her… she's very real.
