what to wear to your birthday dinner

I know what you’re thinking… “that’s the best outfit you could pull together for your birthday?”

Here’s the thing, I no longer have birthdays.

the story goes like this…

Ten years ago I woke up on my birthday with 3 weeks to go in my pregnancy. I thought I was never going to be able to make it three more weeks. My stomach had stretched farther than I ever thought possible, and I could barely breathe. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one uncomfortable with the situation. My son, Harry, was born at 1:30 P.M. on December 30th. The crazy part is, I was born at 1:30 on December 30th as well! So, my birthday is now our birthday. Seriously, can you think of a better gift? If you’ve ever had a child, then you know seeing that chubby face for the first time is incredible.

The reason…

I pulled together this ultra cool, yet casual look, is because we’ll all be celebrating together. The days of fancy celebrations on my birthday are over, and I’m fine with that! I’m smart enough to know that if I really want something for my birthday I should just buy it for myself. SO… I bought myself these Sam Edelman boots, and I love them. They are so fabulous, I can’t even tell you. They are super light weight, and ultra comfortable.

Tonight we’ll go out and eat a ton of comfort food, and get a serious sugar high off Sprinkles cupcakes!! Happy Birthday to me, and my beautiful baby boy.
