let it rain

let it rain

With all the rain recently, I’m reminded of the importance basic pieces play in a wardrobe. A trench makes a rainy day look elegant, and even a little mysterious.
Find a trench that is cut beautifully. Pay attention to the fabric. Make sure it isn’t too flimsy, because it won’t hold a nice shape. You want one that will look as good over jeans, as it does over a skirt. My favorite is a double breasted tan trench. I prefer it fall above the knee, because I’m only 5’4. If you’re 5’8 or above, you can easily carry off a longer one if you want.
A trench can easily be an investment piece. A Burberry trench will easily run you over $700. If you don’t want to make that kind of commitment, London Fog has some fantastic coats as well.

Items in this Observation:

      I have never been able to pull off a trench and it breaks my heart. Even though I am tall, I am extremely high-waisted and look terrible with things tied on the waist. I do love a double-breasted raincoat, though.

      If you find a stylish, lightweight raincoat that works for the Texas heat I do hope you will share with us! :)

      I think you just need to find the right one. I promise you – it will change your life. So much versatility – money well spent. Having said that, you don't have to spend a lot. Gap has a cute one right now.
