what they’re wearing to Homecoming Dance

We never had a homecoming dance when I was in high school. We had the other festivities like the pep-rally, the football game, and the after-party. So, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see my eldest niece go off to homecoming dance. I was so excited to see what she was wearing, and what her date looked like.
Well, she clearly has her Aunt’s fashion sense, because she looked beautiful in a dress she had picked out only hours before. Who does that? Who walks into a store at noon the day of the dance and finds a dress in under an hour? I would have picked out my dress, shoes, and bag weeks in advance. She didn’t seem stressed at all.
She was only worried about one thing… “Aunt Jean, is my dress too low cut or too short?”
My response: “You look great! You’re beautiful!”
What I was actually thinking: “You’re 6 feet tall, blond, a size 2, and 17 years old. I love you – you little bitch. Now get outta here and enjoy your youth while your ass is still in tact!!”
I obviously refrained from that, and gave her the supportive Aunt response. By the way, the true test if something is too short: bend over or sit and if any of your privates peek out … TOO SHORT!
What I appreciated most was how appropriate her outfit actually was. She wasn’t dressed too sexy, it was youthfully flirtatious with a hint of sophistication. She was right on track, and on trend.

Her dress was jeweled around the waist in deep purple, red, yellow, and blue. Her shoes were patent t-strap sandals, which added edge to outfit. Brilliantly executed young lady.
