gangster chic

gangster chic

Artists like Mary J. Blige, Eve, and Missy Elliot have given new dimension to hip-hop style. It’s become more mainstream, more luxurious, and more chic. The question is… can you pull it off? What do you think about the double ring? Is it a style that is reserved for the full blown gangster chic crowd? Or can other girls dabble?

Would you wear the double ring?

Overall, I don't like “gangsta” style, and when wealthy adults wear it, it looks affected to me. And often, silly.

I am sure that my opinion is greatly affected by years of teaching at an urban high school!

I agree. Gangsta on adults somehow manages to look sloppy and trying too hard at the same time. Now, if you split those in two, I'd like them ;-)

I actually love the way Mary J. pulls it together. It's grounded & luxurious. I don't love it when I see women doing it the way they think a man would do it. Mary J gives it that feminine touch.

I saw a photo of Debra Messing wearing the thin double finger ring w/ crystals in a dress and she is pure class! When it is done right the dichotomy of femininity w/ a gansta edge is hot!
