How to avoid buying “vacation garb”

How to avoid vacation garb

Have you ever come home from vacation with purchases that, at the time, you thought were fabulous but realized they don’t translate to your ‘real’ life? You know… that Sari you bought in India that you were certain would look great in the Hamptons, but it never really seemed right. We’ve all done it! I think it’s because we get absorbed by the feeling of a place, taken away to a dreamy state, and want to bring a piece of that feeling back to reality with us. The truth is, that’s the sign of a really good vacation. One that you want a piece of forever. Quite frankly, you should take a piece of it home, just make sure the piece you take can work it’s way into your ‘real’ life.

hitting the shops

I hit the shops today in St. Barts, and came back with a silk top and an eyelet tunic made by Mademoiselle Hortense, and a ‘Bensimon’ cotton sun-dress. The tops will work well with white jeans through the Summer, and the cotton dress is perfect with sandals on a hot day. I chose colors that I knew would work well in my wardrobe, and patterns that I’m comfortable working with. I’ll keep you posted on my many shopping excursions, and inform you of any new brands, etc. Stay tuned!
