Birkenstock Gizeh – the “uncrunchy” collection

I’m the last person you would expect to see wearing Birkenstocks. Well… brace yourself – I own 2 pairs. I came across the Gizeh while on vacation in St. Barts, and bought my first pair in white leather. They were nothing like the “Jerusalem cruiser” sandal that I had come to associate with Birkenstock. You know, the type of sandals you would see at a Grateful Dead concert. While I can appreciate the music, I’m not exactly a Dead-head. This t-strap was more feminine, and appeared oddly fashion forward for a Birkenstock. I was shocked!  The Spring 2009 collection has me smiling. Patent leather in a rainbow of colors, they all call to me.  Birkenstock is appealing to a whole new crowd now.
I’m eyeing the purple or yellow.
