American Apparel – retro or ridiculous?

Leave a response ->

I can’t completely figure American Apparel out. I seriously like the eighties vibe I get when I walk in the store. I’m immediately taken back to the 7th grade. I used to dance around my room in a leotard pretending I was one of the dancers in Staying Alive with John Travolta. I loved leg warmers, body suits, tights, all of it!. I’m just wondering who is wearing the thigh-high striped gym socks? Are they flattering? I think they could actually be emphasizing the wrong part of the leg. I much prefer the knee high gym socks in a fun color. I’m obviously not wearing them, but they would look really cute on a high-school girl. I have to admit, I still love the leg-warmers – cause I’m ” a maniac, maniac, out on the floor. And she’s dancing like she’s never danced before…”. Ok, no more Flashdance flashbacks! Let me know what you think. Would you wear them? If so, what would you wear them with?

      I would definitely wear the lower ones around the house or with my uggs. In fact I have a pair that I do wear! But the thigh hi? I think that AA likes a bit of the “shock” factor – and maybe that is where the thigh-hi's come in!?!?

      I would also wear the knee high ones with my uggs or at the house. I'm 14 and I would also wear them at a slumber party! (:
      but the high ones?? they aret flattering, at it only makes the thigh look bigger, than it really is. and I don't want that!!!

      I just love leg warmers… I'm a salsa dancer and they are pretty 'in” around here. I actually have various pairs of leg warmers, from ankle short ones, to some right-under-knee long… I'm not sure though if the thigh-high ones would look ok on me… but I think it's worth trying. I usually wear leg warmers with tights but 2 weeks ago at a salsa party in Athens I wore them with nothing under, just a pair of hotpants and a “butterfly” large sleeve blouse… and salsa shoes. But yet, I must admit I wouldn't be able to dress like that outside of salsa.

      Knee-high leg warmers are really “in” nowadays. My sister has a pair and it really looks perfectly on her. I haven't bought one yet because I don't know when or where to wear it but I think it would look good on me.

      I always see this high knee warmer used by female rock artist, they look good on it, I just wish I have the guts to wear them =)
