geek chic

In high school, the Geeks were considered “un-cool” and were ridiculed for the clothing they wore. However, the ascent of computers and the Internet explosion has catapulted Geeks in to the “cool-sphere”. Now, the Geeks are hailed as the “rulers of the world”, and their style is suddenly ultra chic. The fact that they are “fashionless” is, in fact, the fashionable part of the equation. The idea is to look like you’re not trying very hard (or trying at all, in fact.) The clothing is more about functionality and comfort, and not at all about fashion. Geek Chic is about being quirky, choosing pieces that reflect your person. It’s about vintage, mixing patterns and unlikely color combinations. Key pieces to achieve the look: dark rimmed glasses, converse sneakers, a functional bag (like a backpack), and a vintage looking T-shirt. In order to own this look, be able to relate to it. If you’re not even a little “nerdy” you’ll never be able to pull it off.
