open-toe oxfords

The Oxford shoe, once synonymous with conservative, traditional styles, is now open to a little sex appeal. While still preserving it’s tailored image, designers have opened the toe for a peek of skin. That bit of revealing flesh is what modernizes the shoe, and expands its accessibility. Think Catholic school-girl… all grown up! You’re wearing this shoe with everything from slacks to sexy dresses. It adds just the right amount of weight to the bare elements of an off the shoulder dress. You can wear them from now into Fall, and then into winter with a pair of opaque stockings. Price points are across the board on this one, so there’s bound to be one in your price range. It’s a style that is wide open to interpretation. You can wear them in a classic style, or go completely funky and pair them with the unexpected. To all the self proclaimed chameleons, like myself, they work as well with a pencil skirt as they do with a pair of skinny jeans, a silk top and a leather jacket. Let the creating begin!

      Love this look, but it doesn't real work for me. Perhaps because it's so seasonal looking, and we don't have a real fall. They would be perfect if I make it to NYC this fall - I like the Vince Camutos, but the Corso Comos are a bit more practical...

      Wait a minute! When did shoes become practical?!
    • LOL! We want it all don't we? High fashion and comfort... is that asking too much?!

      hey i dont like the open toed shoe, but i like it with no opened toe. i think it looks without. I like it open, but not as much!
    • I LOVE those shoes! They are a must have for me ... hubby may not appreciate them, but they'd pull together a wonderful networking/show outfit for fall.

      Hope I can find some reasonably priced but comfy ones (I'm on my feet at shows) at my local DSW. And I'll be sure to pay cash! ;D

      This is more of a question rather than a statement;
      Do you still wear hose with them??? Will they appear strange with "hosied toes" peeking out?
      Let me know fashion divas!!
    • I don't think you should wear hose, but opaque stocking are fine.
    • I'm scouring the internet to find fashion advice on how to dress the tweener - the girl who definitely can't shop at Lane Bryant, isn't necessarily looking to cover it all up, but has to beware low-rise, tight waisted jeans. How do you style someone who ranges in size from 10-14 with an hour glass figure? There are fit guides for smaller "hour glass" figures, but I'd say not for the 12 who isn't at model height.

      Yup, the tweener needs to feel tall and long, she's afraid she's too "stumpy", but she's got a lot of great assets to work with. There are a lot of styles out there that look great on skinny gals, but are a horrible idea on the tweener.

      Like Rachel Hunter, on Celebrity Circus (http://cm1.dotspotter.com/media/0/84/38/Rachel-...) - she's probably at a size 14, maybe 16. She's not fat, and neither are the tweeners. Fortunately for her, she's got height on her side...what is an average gal to do when Lane Bryant and Abercrombie have nothing for her?
